Air Conditioning Appreciation Day – July 3, 2020

According to, July 3rd is Air Conditioning Appreciation Day! We love how this appreciation day falls around the hottest time of the year (July) for us St. Louisians! We can ALL appreciate having air conditioning right now. It is essential for our home comfort in the summer months.

What is the purpose of air conditioning appreciation day?

To celebrate air conditioning of course! The whole point of this holiday is to express gratitude for the technological advances of air conditioning and the air conditioner, the device that we rely on so much, yet take advantage of, and probably do not even think about until it is no longer doing its job in keeping us cool and comfortable.

Show your air conditioner some appreciation

Below are some ways that you can show some appreciation and make sure your air conditioner is and will continue to work as efficiently as possible.

Filter changes

Do not dismiss the importance of filter changes. You’re A/C will work harder if the air filter is dirty and clogged. A dirty filter can be the root cause of several things that can go wrong with your unit. A general rule of thumb is to change your HVAC filter roughly every three months. However, there are other factors to take into consideration. If you have pets, if you are a smoker, or live off a gravel road, you may want to change the filter more frequently. If the filter is thicker in width you might be able to use the same filter for up to 6 months. Please follow the guidelines on your specific filter size.

Minimize sun exposure

Keep your blinds and curtains closed, especially during the heat of the day. It is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to insulate your home. This will help keep the cold air in and the hot air out which will keep your unit from running all day and allow the A/C to take a break more frequently. Consider planting trees around your home that can provide shade and offer protection from the sun, therefore minimizing sun exposure and better regulating your homes temperature.

Routine maintenance

Try investing in routine maintenance for your air conditioner and furnace. We constantly hear customers say the air conditioner stops working during the most inconvenient times. With a Faszold Club Membership, also known as our planned maintenance agreement, your air conditioner and furnace or air handler will be maintained and checked yearly to ensure its working as efficiently as possible.
